According to a newly passed legislation EU member states can from now on decide for themselves whether GMOs are banned on their territory. The German minister for agriculture wants to hand down this responsibility to the individual Federal States. In one state GM-maize is allowed in the next one it is forbidden? 16 different federal laws will be an immense bureaucratic burden. And besides GM pollen and GM seeds do not respect borders.  Sign now our joint call for a uniform cultivation ban on GMOs!

22.03.2015 On their summit in Bad Staffelstein the environment ministers of the Federal States made clear that they favor a ban across Germany. Ulike Höfken environment minister of Rhineland-Palatinate declares: “The Federal States demand the German government to the implement uniform rules concerning the new EU regulations on national cultivation bans.”

19.03.2015 Christian Schmidt (CSU) is quite isolated on the joint conference of the German agricultural ministers. He still favors regulations for GMO cultivation on state level instead of a German wide ban. Our joint call to Minister Schmidt and the ever growing number of signatures seem to be successful. 13.03.2015 The first 323.526 signatures of our joint call were given to the Secretary of State of the German Ministry for the Environment Jochen Flasbarth. Flasbarth confirmed that his ministry will vote for a uniform German wide ban on GMOs.  Joint Press Release
